Mechanic for hire..........

March 18, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

Good evening!!  I hope you have had your dinner, a cup of coffee and dessert.  Why?????

Because I have.   That's all.  Just because it's the "thing to do". Ha.

Today, I found myself doing an assortment of things.

Besides a typical Monday of laundry and minimal house-keeping and cooking lunch for the man of my dreams......I decided it was time to give "Penny Mac" her new "home".

My hubby so lovingly drove me down to Home Depot to get the proper soil and such for my new potted garden.

As I was there, I couldn't help but notice all of the little buds and blooms yelling ..."please take me hooooomeeee with you!!!"

So, what else was I supposed to do???????   Adopt an orphan.

Yes, a quiet colorful little bunch of smiles.....some red verbena.

You guessed it.....red, because it's my favorite color.

Well, of course they needed a pretty little pot to call home as well, so, yes, I walked out ( well, paid for it first ) with a pretty pale yellow scalloped edged pot to put them in along with a Lilly of the Nile plant that my in-laws gave to me last year.

To my surprise when I had returned home and got into the groove of gardening, my mother-n-law informed me that she had picked me, my sis-n-law and herself some little precious miniature roses yesterday at a swap meet.

To my delight, mine were the orange color that I had just looked at and ogled over at the garden place last Friday.

I added them to my little potted garden on my porch.  I still have yet to find the right pot for them....They deserve something really special.

Ok, yes, I talk to my flowers....it makes them smile.........they make me smile.....we share a mutual agreement.

We all need a little something to delight us when we walk out our front door.

The day gets more interesting.

I have always watched my dad work on vehicles, boats, RV's, lawn mowers, fix bicycles and chain saws. But, I have never attempted to nor put aside my "girli-ness" to the mechanical world.

I do good to turn on a lamp.  Or change a light bulb.

I'm really good at pushing the button on the micro-wave.....( for popcorn ).

Anyway, my hubby and I found ourself drawn to my father-n-laws shop today because he brought home his newest toy he has recently had painted.

An old Plymouth car.  It will be a "Rat-Rod".....a car put together from various parts of other vehicles.........don't ask me......I'm just repeating what I've been told.

Yes, they really drive these things.

While my hubby and father-n-law took on the job of helping with the wiring...........

I took on .......well, it sure wasn't planting a flower or taking a picture, or changing a light bulb.    I was given the job of putting the windshield wipers back in place.

Have you ever been in that awkward frame of mind that it was like you were swimming and couldn't move your arms??????  Suddenly, everything in your brain begins to move in slooooooow motion and your thoughts are slurred......yep, the "fish out of water" syndrome.

I know that when you work on old vehicles, you bang on them a lot with .....a hammer.  Well, maybe a wrench.  Yeah, that's it.

All I could think about was, "well, if I hit on it enough, it'll look like I know what I'm doing and maybe just..tada!  Work!"

On the other hand, I'm not used to grease or grime on my pampered, gloved hands.  Ha.

So much for the one long index fingernail that was trying to hang on.

Oh well, the windshield wipers are connected....and would probably work if there was windshield in place.

While my father-n-law continued working on getting the wiring in place for the engine, my hubby and I begin to cover the inside with this insulation stuff.....I'll tell ya later what it's called.....sound proof something.

I think I'll cover my ceiling with it .......maybe.

Yes, life is an adventure....one day at a time.

By the way, Matilda and Brown Sugar wanted to say hello.

It's been a busy week......and somehow I feel that it continues into this week.

Go buy some flowers......and a flower pot.  Plant yourself some smiles.   Because when it seems the world around you may not have a smile to offer, a petal or two never fails.

Over and out,

Mrs. Rogers
