Well, my bread bill just shot up to about 6 loaves a week! I'll for sure keep the bread company in business....if you see Mrs. Baird's stocks go up within the next month or so.....and you have a few shares.....you can send the extra proceeds this direction.
The hens will be forever chirping......... gratefully.
The baby chicks were moved into their new quarters this evening........all 35 of them.
The Reds, however, have new living quarters that we were going to name the "Hood"....but, somebody said that it was already the "Hood" before it had a major remodel...so, for now, I think it's the "whatch-a-ma-call-it".
(If it ends up with lace curtains hanging along the top.....it could very well become the "Shabby Chic's".).
These little black ones.....are going to be an interesting crew. I can't wait to see what they will look like when they start feathering out more. I can't remember the "breed" of them...but, when I ask again...I'll let ya know.
Can you tell I was getting acquainted????? They had no idea what life had just thrown them into. I had to be there to talk them through it!
I think that's the kind of scared look I had on my face when my husband told me I had to learn to shoot a gun.
No! I still haven't learned yet. The rifle....or whatever you call it...is still hanging above our cabin door as an official piece of decor to collect dust.
The only time it gets dusted off is at about 1:30-2:00 AM when a train horn begins to blow about a mile away and it wakes every coyote in Montgomery up that happens to be camping out behind my in-laws barn .....then, "sleepy".............( no, that's not me.....why would I get out of my warm, cozy, snuggly bed to go shoot at something I probably would get a better aim at with my camera than with a shotgun....rifle.....pistol....or whatever you call that thing.)
Anyways, "sleepy" gets up and grabs a flash light that hasn't been charged since Christmas of last year....and stumbles out the door.
All I do ....well, let me say that what I do next....I get my little black house shoes...grab my nice, thick house coat...and peek out the door.
What do I see??????
A bobbing flash light that seems to be losing it's aim because......my little sweetheart is on the "coyote alert" call and all he has on his mind is protecting our spoiled hens and geese.
So, see....we love our animals and go the extra mile to protect them.
Yes, everybody around here has a name.....or two.
You really should have been here this evening when the Reds were being "guided" to their new quarters.
It was like putting children to bed.....all we didn't do was sing them a lullaby.
As for as the other "domesticated" crew around here... The dog with many names......I think each of us have a different name for the "bullet". She gives so many expressions it's hard to tag her with a name that fits all occasions of character for her! ha ha.
I was looking out my window the other morning when it rained....and I cracked up...when I saw this.... It's pouring down rain...... they have a huge house......but, "the huddle" had to take place apparently away from the view of the cameras in the chicken yard.
Then the next day.....as I was having my morning cup of coffee....I peeked out my door window and evidently, they smelled it and was waiting on their "breakfast bread-taco ". I started to say, "May I take your order please?????"
That same evening......my hubby drove up and to my pleasant surprise, he presented me with these precious "popcorn" roses. I was so touched by his thoughtfulness. They have bloomed everyday that they have been in my care.
My little porch garden is coming along so sweetly. I am excited to say "penny mac" is about to begin blooming.....she has about 5 buds that are coming along nicely.
God is good.
Be inspired.....be blessed. When you have a bad day......don't forget that in every life a little rain must fall....even though it may be sunshine on the outside.
Go buy a flower.....plant it. Watch it grow when it rains.
Over and out,
